The ultimate objective of Special Olympics Florida is to provide year-round sports training and competition to children and adults. This is at no cost to the athlete or caregiver. The Athletes particapate in a variety of olympic-type sports for people with intellectual disabilities. Athletes who wish to particapate will give them continuing opportunities to develop physical fitness\, demonstrate courage\, experience joy and particapate in the sharing of gifts\, skills\, and friendship with their families and other special olympic athletes\, and the comunity.

SUMMARY:Mid-Atlantic Police Motorcycle Rodeo
DESCRIPTION:The Mid-Atlantic Police Motorcycle Rodeo was the “brain child” of Corporal A.D. Johnson\, a motorcycle police officer with the Prince George’s County Police Department\, Prince George’s County Maryland. In 1979\, the first rodeo was held\, to build up the skills and working relationships of the motorcycle officers in the Washington Metropolitan Area. Tragically in 1982\, Corporal Johnson was killed in an on-duty motorcycle accident. In the spirit of Corporal A.D. Johnson\, the organization continues today\, heading into its 34th year of operation.​ \n\n\n\n\nThe rodeos have continued throughout the years\, through the efforts of many dedicated volunteers–mostly of police officers\, but also many civilians\, whose help has made it possible. As the rodeo grew\, it became apparent that the committee would need to grow as well\, to handle the increasing demands placed upon it. Many new agencies became interested in participating\, and the committee was asked to assist with establishing other training events in the United States and Canada. The committee was incorporated in 1988 as The Mid-Atlantic Police Motorcycle Riding Committee\, Inc. with its emphasis on increasing the “safe” operation of police motorcycles and increasing the skills of individual officers.​ \n\n\n\n\nThe Mid-Atlantic Police Motorcycle Riding Committee\, Inc. (MAPMRC\, Inc.) continues to be dedicated to increasing “inter-departmental” communications between police agencies everywhere. It is the desire of the MAPMRC\, Inc. to provide better service to the public\, not only through encouraging safer motorcycle operation\, but also with providing an avenue through which officers would have personal contacts with other officers in various areas\, providing an invaluable investigative resource.​ \n\n\n\n\nIn 1998\, the committee voted to take on COPS (Concerns of Police Survivors\, Inc.) as our main charity. In 2013 we adopted the Make A Wish charity.  Through our annual police motorcycle training event held each year and with the raffle of a  Harley-Davidson Motorcycle\, and with the support of other donations\, the MAPMRC has been able to donate over $269\,000 to COPS and $41\,000 to the Make A Wish Foundation. It would not be possible without your support!​ \n\n\n\n\nIn the future\, the Mid-Atlantic Police Motorcycle Riding Committee\, Inc. hopes to continue to grow and to be of service to motorcycle police officers at large\, promoting safe riding skills and increased cooperation between agencies.

DESCRIPTION:The Seventh Annual Music City Police Motorcycle Skills and Training Competition will be held May 3rd thru May 6th\, 2017 in Nashville\, Tennessee. The competition will be held at Opry Mills Mall in the parking lot adjacent to Bass Pro Shops.The event is being hosted by the  Tennessee Highway Patrol “Falcons” Motor Unit. The proceeds will benefit the Tennessee Department of Safety and Homeland Security Foundation. \nThe DOSHS Foundation was created to develop and leverage a variety of statewide partnerships that help provide vital resources for the Tennessee Department of Safety and Homeland Security. By providing this critical funding\, the Foundation is investing to make Tennessee a safer state. The DOSHS Foundation is a 501 (c) (3) tax exempt organization\, which supports efforts to improve police/community relations\, and awards grants to the Tennessee Department of Safety and Homland Security for specialized equipment\, training\, and collaborative community programs. Entry Fee is $75.00 per rider.Please make checks or money orders payable to TNDOSHS Foundation.It is governed by a volunteer board of directors.

SUMMARY:National Police Week
DESCRIPTION:In 1962\, President John F. Kennedy signed a proclamation which designated May 15 as Peace Officers Memorial Day and the week in which that date falls as Police Week. Currently\, tens of thousands of law enforcement officers from around the world converge on Washington\, DC to participate in a number of planned events which honor those that have paid the ultimate sacrifice. \nThe Memorial Service began in 1982 as a gathering in Senate Park of approximately 120 survivors and supporters of law enforcement. Decades later\, the event\, more commonly known as National Police Week\, has grown to a series of events which attracts thousands of survivors and law enforcement officers to our Nation’s Capital each year. \nThe National Peace Officers’ Memorial Service\, which is sponsored by the Grand Lodge of the Fraternal Order of Police\, is one in a series of events which includes the Candlelight Vigil\, which is sponsored by the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund (NLEOMF) and seminars sponsored by Concerns of Police Survivors (C.O.P.S.) \nNational Police Week draws in between 25\,000 to 40\,000 attendees. The attendees come from departments throughout the United States as well as from agencies throughout the world. This provides a unique opportunity to meet others who work in law enforcement. In that spirit\, the Fraternal Order of Police DC Lodge #1 sponsors receptions each afternoon and evening during Police Week. These events are open to all law enforcement personnel and are an experience unlike any other.

Every year the Lenexa Police Department coordinates challenging exercises while their staff works hard capturing each bikers progress via video and photos. In addition\, this two day conference not only promises to challenge bikers\, but all involved tend to have a little fun! Raffle ticket sales have produced prizes to the Royals games\, concerts and awesome motorcycle and police equipment.
